Bommelsteijn Lodge was once the home and practice of doctor Hertstein.
In 1939, the permit for the doctor’s home was applied for on behalf of the doctor Hertstein. Architect was Jan Albert CornelisTillema (1904-1999), who in 1939 also worked for the municipality of Rotterdam. The design for the doctor’s home has been completed its traditional architectural style is strongly influenced by the Delft school, which originated around the Delft professor Granpré Molière. Few works by Tillema are known; after it bombardment of Rotterdam in 1940, he worked with other architects on it recovery of the city. now for the last 10 years we have been a place where people from all over the world come to stay when they visit Dordrecht, In the beginning we was a B&B where a delicious breakfast was also served, but now since August 2024, we have rebranded from a B&B to a lodge, which means we no longer serve breakfast but we still have our rooms for people to enjoy.
